Reward Set at $50,000 in Madison Homicide Case

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(New Haven, CT) - John P. Doyle, Jr., State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of New Haven, and Madison Police Chief John Drumm today announced that Governor Ned Lamont has authorized a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Barbara Hamburg of Madison. State’s Attorney Doyle and Chief Drumm expressed their appreciation to Governor Lamont for his action and his continued commitment to crime victims and their families.

On March 3, 2010, Ms. Hamburg was found murdered in the yard of her Madison home. An intensive investigation was conducted by the Madison Police Department, with the assistance of the Connecticut State Police Central District Major Crime Squad and the State of Connecticut Division of Scientific Services Forensic Science Laboratory. Madison Police have devoted countless hours and resources to the investigation and continue to vigorously pursue any leads. Despite these efforts, no arrest has been made in connection with her death. Ms. Hamburg is survived by two children and is fondly remembered by her family and friends.

As the fifteenth anniversary of Ms. Hamburg’s unsolved homicide has come upon us, State’s Attorney Doyle filed an application with Governor Lamont for the authorization of a $50,000 reward. State’s Attorney Doyle and Chief Drumm believe that the new reward amount will renew public interest and awareness of the tragic death of Ms. Hamburg, and that individuals with information will be prompted to come forward.

The public is advised not to underestimate the significance of what they may know and not to assume that law enforcement must already possess that information. Sometimes a small piece of information may be what investigators need to solve a case and achieve a successful prosecution.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Madison Police Department at 9 Campus Drive, Madison, CT 06443, or at (203) 245-6500.
