(New Haven, CT) – New Haven Judicial District State's Attorney John P. Doyle, Jr. today announced that Denise Lucibello, age 55, of East Haven, now faces an additional charge of Manslaughter in the Second Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-56b, in connection with the June 2024 death of Department of Transportation Employee Andrew DiDomenico.
Lucibello already faces charges of Misconduct with a Motor Vehicle, Driving Under the Influence, Illegal Operation of a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License, Failure to Drive in Proper Lane, and Failure to Slow Down/Move Over for a Non-Emergency Vehicle in connection with the June 28, 2024 death of Mr. DiDomenico, who was fatally struck while working on the Wharton Brook Connector in Wallingford.
At the time of the defendant’s July 1, 2024 arraignment in Meriden Superior Court on the previous charges, the New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office was awaiting results from a Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection’s (DESPP) investigation of the crash to determine whether additional charges would be filed against the defendant. The outcome of the investigation by the Connecticut State Police and the Connecticut State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad (CARS), both of DESPP, resulted in the recent filing of the charge of Manslaughter in the Second Degree by the State’s Attorney’s Office.
The charges against the defendant are merely accusations and she is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Meriden on October 18, 2024.
State's Attorney Doyle, on behalf of the entire Division of Criminal Justice, again extends his deepest condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of Mr. DiDomenico.
