(New Britain, CT) – Christian M. Watson, New Britain Judicial District State’s Attorney, today announced that on November 17, 2025, in New Britain Superior Court, a jury found Richard P. Saja, age 37, of New Britain, guilty of Criminal Violation of a Restraining Order, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-223b. The Honorable Jesse W. Giddings presided over the jury trial.
Evidence at trial showed that on July 28, 2024, the victim waved down a New Britain police officer who was on patrol. During the police investigation, it was determined that Saja went to the victim’s home in violation of an active restraining order that prohibited him from having contact with the victim.
Sentencing is scheduled for January 15, 2026 in New Britain Superior Court.
State’s Attorney Watson wishes to extend his gratitude to the New Britain Police Department for its efforts in the investigation and prosecution of this matter.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Sarah Fallon, with assistance from Inspectors Edward Apicella and Felix Perez.
