(New Britain, CT) – Christian M. Watson, New Britain Judicial District State’s Attorney, today announced that a jury in Superior Court in New Britain on August 25, 2025 found Jeremy Figueroa-Gerena, age 35, of Enfield, guilty in a joined prosecution of two pending cases of: Sexual Assault in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-70 (a)(1), four counts of Violation of a Protective Order, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-223, Unlawful Restraint in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a- 95, and Assault in the Third Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-61 (a)(1).
The conviction stems from the sexual assault of a woman at a motel in Southington in 2024. After the sexual assault, the defendant physically assaulted and restrained the victim in his vehicle on the highway. The defendant had a protective order prohibiting him from having contact with the victim.
Sentencing is scheduled for December 16, 2025 in New Britain Superior Court.
State’s Attorney Watson recognizes that the cycle of violence in domestic violence cases is pervasive and hopes that this conviction is a significant step forward for the victim in her process of healing.
