East Hartford Man Pleads Guilty to Sexual Assault Charges

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

10/20/2025

(Hartford, CT) - Sharmese L. Walcott, Hartford Judicial District State’s Attorney, announced today that on October 16, 2025, Octavio DeJesus, age 46, of East Hartford, pleaded guilty in Hartford Superior Court to two counts of Sexual Assault in the Second Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-71 (a)(4).

In February of 2021, a juvenile victim disclosed to a relative that between May 20, 2019, and February 24, 2021, when the child was between the ages of 6 and 8, he was sexually assaulted by his caregiver, identified as Octavio DeJesus. The victim’s relative notified the Department of Children and Families of the disclosure, who notified the East Hartford Police Department. The victim reported that the abuse would occur in the evening or during lunch time, while the child was home for remote learning.

The Hartford State’s Attorney’s Office would like to thank Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA) for their planned assistance in event of a trial and continued support for child victims having to prepare to relive their trauma in courtrooms across the state.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Samantha Magnani, with the assistance of Inspector Carlos Ocasio, Paralegal Specialist, Lakisha Malave and Certified Legal Intern Abigail Stock.

Sentencing is scheduled for January 8, 2026 at Hartford Superior Court.
