(Hartford, CT) – Sharmese L. Walcott, State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Hartford, announced today that the Honorable Kevin C. Doyle on May 15, 2025 sentenced Noel Martinez, age 35, of Hartford, to a total effective sentence of 25 years in prison, execution suspended after 10 years served, followed by 15 years of probation.
A jury in Hartford Superior Court on February 19, 2025 found Martinez guilty of one count of Sexual Assault in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-70(a)(2), one count of Sexual Assault in the Fourth Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-73a(a)(1)(A), Illegal Sexual Contact With a Victim Under the Age of 16, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53-21(a)(2), and Risk of Injury to a Minor, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53-21(a)(1).
According to evidence introduced at trial, in February of 2022, the Connecticut Department of Children and Families contacted the Hartford Police Department to report that they received a report of sexual abuse. The agency was contacted by the victim’s father to report that his child had been sexually assaulted by the mother’s boyfriend, Noel Martinez, five years earlier, when the victim was 9 years old.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Alexandra Arroyo and Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney Jordan Amendola, with the assistance of Inspector Carlos Ocasio, Paralegal Specialists Kelly Randall and Lakisha Malave, and Intern Ana Faoro.
