Jury Convicts Hartford Man of Sexually Assaulting a Child

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

2/19/2025

(Hartford, CT) - Sharmese L. Walcott, Hartford Judicial District State’s Attorney, announced that Noel Martinez, age 35, of Hartford, was found guilty today by a Superior Court jury in Hartford of one count of Sexual Assault in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-70(a)(2), one count of Sexual Assault in the Fourth Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-73a(a)(1)(A), Illegal Sexual Contact With a Victim Under the Age of 16, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53-21(a)(2), and Risk of Injury to a Minor, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53-21(a)(1).

According to evidence introduced at the trial, in February of 2022, the Department of Children and Families notified the Hartford Police Department of a report they received alleging sexual abuse of a minor. The report, made by a relative of the victim, indicated that the child had been sexually assaulted by the defendant – the boyfriend of the child’s mother at the time - when the victim was 9 years old.

State’s Attorney Walcott would like to thank the jury for their time and attention, the victim and her father for enduring the process, and the trial team for their time and the intense effort they made to seek justice in this sexual assault case.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Alexandra Arroyo and Deputy Assistant States Attorney Jordan Amendola, with the assistance of Inspector Carlos Ocasio, Paralegal Specialists Kelly Randall and Lakisha Malave, and Certified Legal Intern Ana Faoro. The Honorable Kevin C. Doyle presided over the trial.

Sentencing is scheduled for April 25, 2025, in Hartford Superior Court.
