Judge Sentences East Hartford Man Convicted of Sexually Assaulting a Minor

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

1/29/2025

(Hartford, CT) – Hartford Judicial District State’s Attorney Sharmese L. Walcott today announced that the Honorable Nuala E. Droney on January 24, 2025 sentenced Aaron Fullerton, age 48, of East Hartford, to 30 years in prison, execution suspended after 13 years served, and 20 years of probation.

A jury in Hartford Superior Court on October 18, 2024, found Fullerton guilty of two counts of Sexual Assault in the Second Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-71(a)(1), four counts of Risk of Injury to Minor with Illegal Sexual Contact, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-21(a)(2), two counts of Sexual Assault in the Fourth Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-73a(a)(1B), and two counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53-21-(a)(1).

According to evidence introduced at trial, the defendant had sexually abused a minor child over a four-month period during 2020-2021. The minor victim disclosed the abuse to her mother whose actions brought the abuse to an end. Fullerton was arrested by warrant following an investigation by the East Hartford Police Department. State’s Attorney Walcott would like to acknowledge the bravery of the victim in coming forward, the hard work of prosecutors who presented the case and the attentive jurors who worked conscientiously to reach an appropriate verdict.

“We must hold accountable perpetrators of sexual violence who victimize the most vulnerable members of our society,” State’s Attorney Walcott said. “This prosecution shows the kind of dedication that is essential in seeking justice for survivors.”

The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant State’s Attorneys Terence D. Mariani, Jr. and Elena Palermo of the Statewide Prosecution Bureau in the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney, with the assistance of Inspector Emory Hightower and support staff from the Hartford State’s Attorney’s Office.
