Danbury Man Convicted of Charges of Sexual Assault and Risk of Injury to a Minor

(Danbury, CT) – David R. Applegate, Danbury Judicial District State’s Attorney, today announced that the Honorable Charles M. Stango on May 9, 2025 found Juan Garcia-Perales, age 48, of Danbury, guilty of two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Minor, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-70c(a)(5), two counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-21(a)(2) and two counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-21(a)(1).

According to evidence introduced at the trial, throughout 2012 and until February 2015, the defendant repeatedly sexually assaulted two children between the ages of 6 and 9 years old.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Mary-Caitlin Harding, with the assistance of Inspector Adam Marcus and Paralegal Specialist Shanik Smith. 

Sentencing is scheduled for August 6, 2025 in Danbury Superior Court.
