Jury Finds Man Guilty of 2024 Assault at Danbury Bar

(Danbury, CT) – David R. Applegate, Danbury Judicial District State’s Attorney, today announced that a jury in Danbury Superior Court on April 3, 2025 found Kevin Patricio Pereira, age 31, of Danbury, guilty of the crimes of Assault in the First Degree by Use of a Dangerous Weapon, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-59(a)(1), Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-63, Threatening in the Second Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-62(a)(1), and Breach of Peace in the Second Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-181(a)(1). The Honorable Charles M. Stango presided over the trial.

Testimony at trial showed that during a fight outside the Boemia Café on Wildman Street in Danbury on the night of April 13, 2024, the defendant slashed and stabbed the victim with a knife, causing serious wounds to the victim’s neck and arm. A bartender intervened in the fight and the defendant fled the bar. The victim was hospitalized due to his injuries.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Matthew Knopf, with assistance from Inspector Adam Marcus.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 7, 2025 in Danbury Superior Court.
