Bridgeport Man Sentenced to 40 Years in Prison for Sexually Assaulting Minors

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

4/11/2025

(Bridgeport, CT) - Bridgeport Judicial District State’s Attorney Joseph T. Corradino announced that the Honorable Earl B. Richards III today sentenced Rodolfo Nieves, age 60, of Bridgeport, to 40 years in prison, followed by five years of special parole for multiple sexual assault offenses against two minors that took place between 2001 and 2016.

On January 14, 2025, a Superior Court jury found Nieves guilty of the crimes of Sexual Assault in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-70(a)(2), Attempt to Commit Sexual Assault in the Second Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § § 53a-49(a)(2) and 53a-71(a)(1), and two counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53-21(a)(2).

According to evidence introduced at trial, the defendant sexually abused two children over multiple years. Both victims, now adults, testified at trial about the abuse they endured as children at the hands of the defendant.

“This case demonstrates that we will diligently pursue crimes against children when the evidence supports it, despite the lapse of time. People who commit sexual abuse of children should know that their past will catch up to them and they will be held accountable for the harm they have inflicted on vulnerable innocents,” State’s Attorney Corradino said.

State’s Attorney Corradino commended the Bridgeport Police Department, who conducted the investigation, and Assistant State’s Attorney Kristin Chiriatti who prosecuted the case with the assistance of Paralegal Iris Villanueva and Inspector Edward Zack.
