(Hartford, CT) - Sharmese L. Walcott, Hartford Judicial District State’s Attorney, today announced that a jury in Hartford Superior Court on December 11, 2024 found Hector Hariprasad, age 61, of Hartford, guilty of two counts of Sexual Assault in the Second Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-71(a)(3), one count of Sexual Assault in the Fourth Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-73a(a)(2), one count of Unlawful Restraint in the First Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-95, and Providing Liquor to a Minor in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 30-86(b)(2).
According to evidence introduced at trial, on May 29, 2023, the defendant provided alcohol to a minor female who was invited to spend the night at the defendant’s home by a minor female friend. Once the minor was intoxicated, the defendant committed the sexual assault.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney Alexandra Arroyo and Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney Stacey Cox, with the invaluable assistance of Inspector Carlos Ocasio and Paralegal Antoine Campbell. The Honorable Michael J. Gustafson presided over the trial.
State’s Attorney Walcott would like to acknowledge the bravery of the victim who testified during the trial and the hard work of dedicated investigators in the case. State’s Attorney Walcott also noted how those involved in this case did not let the severe weather on December 11, 2024 impact the resolution of this case.
“There is a lot of work that goes into bringing cases to trial so I would like to take a moment to commend the dedicated prosecution team, witnesses and jurors who made their way through significant downpours, high winds and power outages that day to present evidence, give testimony and hear this case,” State’s Attorney Walcott said. “Thank you all.”
