(Bridgeport, CT) - Bridgeport Judicial District State’s Attorney Joseph T. Corradino announced today that a Superior Court three-judge panel on November 26, 2024 convicted Jaquan Bryant, age 35, of Waterbury, of the 2021 murder of 24-year-old Raheem Lynch.
The three-judge panel, which consisted of the Honorable Robin Pavia, the Honorable Eliot D. Prescott, and the Honorable Peter A. McShane, deliberated for one day before unanimously finding Bryant guilty of Murder, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-54a.
In the early morning hours of November 6, 2021, Lynch was shot in the head while sitting in a friend’s car outside of Mystique Gentleman’s Club in Bridgeport. Police recovered video that showed a vehicle registered to Bryant driving by the victim’s location at the time shots were reported. Witness statements and additional video from inside the club revealed that Bryant got into a fight at the club with another individual just prior to the shooting. Bryant waited for that individual to leave the club, at which time he drove by and fired six shots in the direction of that individual. Lynch, who happened to be sitting in a car nearby, was struck in the head by one of the bullets.
“The Bridgeport Police Department’s thorough investigation made this verdict possible,” said Assistant State’s Attorney Kristin Chiriatti, who tried the case for the state.
State’s Attorney Corradino said, “The impressive effort of Ms. Chiriatti, Inspector John Andrews, and Detective Keith Hanson brought this case to a successful conclusion and is another step forward in ridding the community of senseless gun violence.”
Bryant faces 60 years in prison when he is sentenced in Bridgeport Superior Court on February 3, 2025.
