(New Haven, CT) - New Haven Judicial District State’s Attorney John P. Doyle, Jr. today announced that a jury in New Haven Superior Court on November 20, 2024 found Alberto Nieves, age 66, of New Haven, guilty of one count of Sexual Assault in the First Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-70(a)(2), and Risk of Injury to a Minor in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53-21(a)(2). State’s Attorney Doyle wishes to extend his gratitude to the New Haven Police Department Special Victims Unit for their investigation of this case and to the state Department of Children and Families and the Yale-New Haven Hospital Child Abuse Clinic for their assistance. The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Charles Johnson, with assistance from Inspector Jeffrey Cortes.
Sentencing is scheduled for February 13, 2025 in New Haven Superior Court.
