(Stamford, CT) – Paul J. Ferencek, State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Stamford/Norwalk, today announced that on November 12, 2024, Rodney Daniels, age 48, of Stamford, was sentenced by the Honorable Gary J. White to 12 years in prison and eight years of special parole following his earlier guilty pleas to two counts of Sexual Assault in the Second Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-71(a)(3). The sentences were individually imposed but run concurrently. The state also charged Daniels as a persistent serious felony offender under Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-40(c), which raised the charged sexual assault charges from C felonies to B felonies.
According to court records, the defendant was brought by ambulance to Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk on August 29, 2020 after saying he ingested hallucinogenic drugs. While in the emergency room of the hospital, the defendant surreptitiously entered an exam room of a female patient in the early morning hours and sexually assaulted her while she was under heavy sedation. A nurse checking on the female patient observed the defendant lying next to the victim with his face in her chest and his hand on her exposed private area. The defendant’s DNA was later determined to be found in the victim’s private parts, thus prompting two counts of Sexual Assault in the Second Degree. The case was prosecuted by State’s Attorney Ferencek, with the assistance of Inspector Chris Gioielli.
