Bridgeport Man Sentenced for Sexually Assaulting Three Children

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

10/15/2024

(Bridgeport, CT) - Bridgeport Judicial District State’s Attorney Joseph T. Corradino today announced that the Honorable Tracy Lee Dayton on October 9, 2024, sentenced Luis Rivera, age 58, of Bridgeport, to 50 years in prison, execution suspended after 25 years to serve, followed by 35 years of probation, for the sexual assaults of three children.

Rivera pleaded guilty in Bridgeport Superior Court to three counts of Sexual Assault in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statues § 53a-70(a)2, and three counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor, in violation of Connecticut General Statues § 53-21.

Between the years of 1994 and 1996, Rivera sexually assaulted three cousins, two girls and one boy, within the City of Bridgeport. The children were all under the age of 12 at the time.  The three victims, now aged 33, 35 and 37, separately disclosed to police in 2022 that they had been sexually assaulted by Rivera, a friend of the family, over the course of several years.

Rivera was later arrested in Puerto Rico as a fugitive from justice and brought back to Connecticut to face the sexual assault charges.

Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Tiffany Lockshier prosecuted the case.
