Jury Finds Tavares Jefferson Guilty of the 2020 Murder of Jamain Allen in Bridgeport

(Bridgeport, CT) - Bridgeport Judicial District State’s Attorney Joseph T. Corradino announced that a jury in Bridgeport Superior Court today found Tavares Jefferson guilty of Murder, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-54a(a), Assault in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes  § 53a-59(a)(5), Criminal Possession of a Firearm, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes  § 53a-217(a), and Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes  § 29-35(a). The Honorable Peter A. McShane presided over the trial.

According to the evidence introduced at trial, Jefferson shot the decedent, Jamain Allen, six times and Jose Rivera once, in retaliation for Allen’s brother’s theft of three kilograms of cocaine. 

The case was investigated by the Bridgeport Police Department and was prosecuted by Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Michael DeJoseph, who was assisted by Inspector Christian DiCarlo and Paralegal Christina Bennett. 

State’s Attorney Corradino thanks the Bridgeport Police Department for their professionalism in the investigation of this homicide.

Sentencing is scheduled for December 12, 2024, in Bridgeport Superior Court.
