(Vernon, CT) - Craig P. Nowak, State’s Attorney for the Tolland Judicial District, announced that a jury in Superior Court in Rockville on October 6, 2026 found Daniel Moard, age 54, of Hebron, guilty of Operating Under the Influence, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 14-227a(a)(1) as a first offender. He was sentenced by the Honorable Tejas Bhatt, to six months of incarceration, execution suspended and 18 months’ probation.
According to evidence introduced at trial, Moard was involved in a one-car motor vehicle crash on October 11, 2024, in the parking lot of a Hebron supermarket, where he crashed into a fence.
Assistant State’s Attorneys Sarah E. Jones and Jennifer Fields of the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney prosecuted the case, with assistance from Inspector Stephen Burstein.
State’s Attorney Nowak would like to extend his gratitude to Connecticut State Police Troop K for their investigative efforts, as well as to the state Department of Emergency Services & Public Protection’s Division of Scientific Services for their assistance.
