(New London, CT) – Paul J. Narducci, State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of New London, today announced that Governor Ned Lamont has authorized a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the 2024 motor-vehicle collision involving a pedestrian that resulted in the death of Noel F. McGregor, Jr. This action rescinds a previously authorized $10,000 reward issued in 2024.
The reward request was submitted by State’s Attorney Narducci, who noted that despite extensive investigative efforts, the case remains unsolved. Connecticut State Police continue to work on the case and maintain contact with Mr. McGregor’s family.
Mr. McGregor was well-known and well-respected in his community where he had served as a longtime Hartford police officer and detective, city council member and committed church elder, and ran a local business. He was discovered suffering from multiple injuries on October 22, 2024 on Route 2 westbound, just prior to Exit 16 in Colchester. Connecticut State Police Troopers from Troop K in Colchester were dispatched to the site for a report of a pedestrian who had been struck by a motor vehicle. It was reported that the vehicle was driving erratically and fled the scene. Mr. McGregor was transported to Hartford Hospital where on November 22, 2024, he succumbed to his injuries.
On December 11, 2024, Governor Lamont approved an initial $10,000 reward following an application by State’s Attorney Narducci. Despite this, no significant leads developed. State’s Attorney Narducci recently requested an increase in the reward in the hope that new information will be developed if the reward is increased.
Governor Lamont’s authorization of a reward of up to $25,000 reflects the continued effort to encourage anyone with knowledge about the motor-vehicle collision that resulted in Mr. McGregor’s death to come forward. The reward will be paid by order of the court upon conviction of the individual or individuals responsible.
The New London Judicial District State’s Attorney’s Office is grateful to Governor Lamont for increasing this reward and to members of the Connecticut State Police for their work and dedication to this investigation. State’s Attorney Narducci said he hopes the $25,000 reward will bring about new information from people who may know something but have not yet come forward.
