(Rocky Hill, CT) - In response to the four audit findings directed at the activities of the Division of Criminal Justice during calendar years ending December 31, 2021, 2022, and 2023 contained in the State of Connecticut Auditors of Public Accounts July 9, 2025 performance audit, the Division of Criminal Justice has already taken the following action steps:
- The Division has updated its eProsecutor Case Management System policy related to the tracking of certain statutorily required data points. The Division now requires prosecutors to note their compliance with General Statutes Section 54-56o in eProsecutor and confirm that the nolle was entered on the record.
- The Division of Criminal Justice has updated its Case Management System Policy to reflect Section 54-56o’s requirement that any counseling or treatment completed in connection with the entry of a nolle in a family violence matter not referred to the local family relations intervention unit must comply with the Domestic Violence Offender Program Standards established by the Domestic Violence Offender Program Standards Advisory Council.
- The Division of Criminal Justice has created and approved a family violence counseling and treatment program compliance form to be retained in the Division’s paper files and uploaded to eProsecutor for prosecutors to document compliance with the statewide domestic violence offender standards.
- The Division of Criminal Justice continues to offer regular training to its employees on a wide range of domestic violence-related issues, including the availability and appropriateness of different types of treatment providers.
- The Division of Criminal Justice is committed to collaborating with community stakeholders and maintaining its active role on the Domestic Violence Criminal Justice Response and Enhancement Advisory Council to discuss and assess issues related to family violence cases, including assessing treatment provider gaps and further developing a wider network of approved domestic violence treatment providers.
