(Bridgeport, CT) – Bridgeport Judicial District State’s Attorney Joseph T. Corradino today announced that the Honorable Earl B. Richards III on June 17, 2026, sentenced Luis Morales, age 38, of Bridgeport, to 63 years in prison for the 2021 murder of Clinton Taylor in Bridgeport.
A Superior Court jury in Bridgeport on April 14, 2026 found Morales guilty of the crimes of Murder, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-54a(a), Use of a Firearm to Commit a Class A Felony, in violation of Connecticut General Statues § 53-202k, Felony Murder, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-54c, Robbery in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-134(a)(1), and Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 29-35(a).
At trial, the evidence established that on December 16, 2021, Morales shot Taylor 10 times with a 9mm handgun while inside a convenience store on Park Avenue, stole money out of Taylor’s pockets, and then took Taylor’s automobile, which was parked outside the store.
At the sentencing hearing, the victim’s grandmother spoke eloquently about what the immense loss has meant to her and her family.
The case was prosecuted by Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Michael A. DeJoseph, with assistance from Inspector Christopher LaMaine, and Paralegal Specialist Christina Bennett.
“This case represents the continuing effort of this office, together with our law enforcement partners, to end the scourge of gun violence in the city of Bridgeport,” Corradino said. “I commend Mr. DeJoseph, the entire prosecution team, and the Bridgeport Police Department for their outstanding effort.”
