Jury Convicts Bloomfield Man of Assaulting State Judicial Marshal

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Hartford, CT) - Sharmese L. Walcott, Hartford Judicial District State’s Attorney, has announced that a Superior Court jury in New Britain on April 11, 2025 found Brandon Hightower, age 38, of Bloomfield, guilty of Assault of Public Safety, Emergency Medical, Public Transit or Health Care Personnel, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-167c.  

According to evidence introduced at the trial, on January 19, 2024, Hightower was causing a significant disturbance in a courtroom at the Hartford Superior Court, Geographical Area No. 14.  When requested to leave, Hightower refused and remained in the courtroom. When state judicial  marshals attempted to escort him out, Hightower assaulted one of the responding marshals, causing injury.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorneys Mark Williams and Katelynn MacKinnon. The Honorable Nuala E. Droney presided over the trial. 

The case was tried at Superior Court in New Britain due to the incident taking place at Superior Court in Hartford, located at 101 Lafayette Street in Hartford.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 5, 2025, in Superior Court in New Britain.
