(Waterbury, CT) – Maureen T. Platt, State’s Attorney for the Waterbury Judicial District, announced that the Honorable Corrine L. Klatt on April 15, 2025 sentenced Quincy Mitchell, age 35, of Waterbury, to 45 years in prison, execution suspended after 30 years served, for a 2022 shooting in Waterbury that caused serious injuries to the victim.
A Superior Court jury in Waterbury on January 21, 2025, found Mitchell guilty of charges of Attempt to Commit Murder, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-54a, and Assault in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-59(a)(1). Evidence at trial showed that the defendant fired multiple gunshots at the victim on East Main Street in Waterbury on June 17, 2022.
State’s Attorney Platt wishes to extend her gratitude to the Waterbury Police Department for their investigative efforts in this case.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Marc Ramia, with the assistance of Inspector Timothy Kluntz.
