Jury Finds Wilkid Valcinord Guilty of the 2023 Murder of Andra Brown in East Hartford

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

4/07/2026

(Hartford, CT) - Sharmese L. Walcott, Hartford Judicial District State’s Attorney, today announced that a jury in Superior Court in Hartford on April 2, 2026 found Wilkid Valcinord, age 60, of Chicopee, Massachusetts, guilty of one count of Murder, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-54a.

According to evidence presented at trial, at approximately 9:30 p.m. on June 17, 2023, the defendant traveled from Chicopee, Massachusetts to East Hartford with the intent to murder his wife, Andra Brown. At about 7:00 a.m. on June 18, 2023, East Hartford police were dispatched to 10 Martin Circle after receiving a 911 call from a screaming woman. When officers arrived, they were met by the victim’s daughter‑in‑law, who had discovered the victim deceased on the floor behind a door, lying in a pool of blood. Autopsy records and testimony showed that she had been stabbed 28 times. Through their investigation, police identified the defendant as a suspect. Cell phone data and surveillance footage showed his work van and phone traveling from his home in Chicopee to 10 Martin Circle during the time of the homicide. Investigators also recovered significant forensic evidence from inside the defendant’s vehicle.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Samantha Magnani and Assistant State’s Attorney Meredith Clark, with the assistance of Inspector Carlos Ocasio and Paralegal Specialist Lakisha Malave. The Honorable Joseph B. Schwartz presided over the trial.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 29, 2026 in Hartford Superior Court.
