(New Britain, CT) – Christian M. Watson, New Britain Judicial District State’s Attorney, announced today that the Honorable Chris Pelosi on February 11, 2026, sentenced Jeremy Figueroa-Gerena, age 35, of Enfield, to a total effective sentence of 30 years in prison, suspended after 20 years served, followed by 25 years of probation for various charges stemming from a 2024 sexual assault in Southington.
A jury in Superior Court in New Britain on August 25, 2025 in a joined prosecution of two pending cases found Figueroa-Gerena guilty of the following charges: Sexual Assault in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-70 (a)(1), four counts of Violation of a Protective Order, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-223, Unlawful Restraint in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a- 95, and Assault in the Third Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-61 (a)(1).
Evidence at trial showed the defendant sexually assaulted a woman at a motel in Southington in 2024. After the sexual assault, the defendant physically assaulted and restrained the victim in his vehicle on the highway. The defendant had a protective order prohibiting him from having contact with the victim.
State’s Attorney Watson recognizes that the cycle of violence that we see in domestic violence cases is pervasive and hopes that this disposition is a significant step forward for the complainant in her process of healing.
State’s Attorney Watson extends his gratitude to the Southington Police Department, Connecticut State Police, Troop H, the Hospital of Central Connecticut, and the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection’s Division of Scientific Services, and Victim Advocate Heather Major for their efforts in the investigation and prosecution of this case.
