(New London, CT) – Paul J. Narducci, State’s Attorney for the New London Judicial District, today announced that a Superior Court jury on February 10, 2025 found Jerod White III, age 31, of Norwich, guilty of charges of Assault in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-59(a)(1), and Robbery in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-134(a)(1), stemming from a 2020 assault and robbery in East Lyme. The Honorable Elizabeth C. Leaming presided over the case.
Evidence from the trial showed that the defendant and two other individuals attacked a 28-year-old man during a bonfire in the woods near Ravenswood Trail in East Lyme on October 5, 2020. The victim was beaten with a wooden object and punched in the head and face. Before fleeing the scene, the attackers stole a bag from the victim that contained the victim’s money and jewelry. The victim suffered serious injuries but managed to crawl out of the woods and requested help from a passerby.
Sentencing for White is scheduled for April 21, 2025 in New London Superior Court.
