(Milford, CT) - Margaret E. Kelley, Ansonia/Milford Judicial District State’s Attorney, announced that a jury in Milford Superior Court today found Seth Tyson, age 44, of West Haven, guilty of one count of Criminal Possession of a Firearm, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-217(a)(1) and one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes §21-279(a)(1)(a).
According to evidence at trial, the Street Crime Unit of the West Haven Police Department executed a search and seizure warrant at the defendant’s apartment which he occupied alone. Fentanyl and other illegal substances were located on the bed where the defendant was found. A further search of the bedroom closet turned up a firearm in a backpack with some identifying information belonging to the defendant. A bag of ammunition matching the caliber of the firearm was also located in a different area of the closet. Due to a previous felony conviction, the defendant was prohibited from possessing a firearm.
The Honorable Stephanie A. Damiani presided over the trial. Sentencing is scheduled for April 1, 2026 in Milford Superior Court.
