State’s Attorneys’ Advisory Board

Minutes of the Meeting of February 9, 2015

The meeting was called to order at approximately 12:34 p.m. by State’s Attorney Gail Hardy, Secretary of the Advisory Board, acting in place of Michael Regan (New London), President of the Advisory Board (Board), who was absent, and Vice President Stephen Sedensky, who joined the meeting in progress.

Also in attendance were State’s Attorneys David I. Cohen (Stamford-Norwalk), Michael Dearington (New Haven), Patricia Froehlich (Windham), Matthew Gedansky (Tolland), Gail Hardy (Hartford), Peter A. McShane (Middlesex), Maureen Pratt (Waterbury), Brian Preleski (New Britain), Stephen J. Sedensky III, (Danbury), David Shepack (Litchfield), and John Smriga, (Fairfield), who participated by telephone conference call due to the snowstorm (as did State’s Attorney Hardy), and Chief State’s Attorney Kevin Kane, Deputy Chief State’s Attorneys Leonard C. Boyle and John J. Russotto.

Also present: Executive Assistant State’s Attorney Brian Austin, Jr., legislative liaison Wilfred Blanchette and Communications and Legislative Specialist Mark A. Dupuis.

State’s Attorney Smriga made a motion to approve the minutes of the January 12, 2015 meeting. The motion was seconded by State’s Attorney Shepack and passed unanimously.

New Business:  Attorney Froehlich reported on the status of her three year term as the Connecticut State Director for the National District Attorneys Association (NDAA), and her desire to give another State’s Attorney the opportunity to serve in that capacity. She advised us as to the proposals that she has raised with the Board of the NDAA, some of which are still pending. Attorney Froehlich agreed to remain in her capacity, for the time being; and, to report back with updates as they become available.

There was no old business.

There being no further business, State’s Attorney Lawlor made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 12:43 p.m. The motion was seconded by State’s Attorney Sedensky and passed unanimously.
