Minutes of the Meeting of September 22, 2022
The Honorable Andrew J. McDonald, Chair, called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m.
In addition to Justice McDonald, participating in the meeting were: Attorneys Reginald Dwayne Betts, Scott Murphy and Moy Ogilvie and Chief State’s Attorney Patrick J. Griffin. Also present was Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist Janice duFrend.
Attorney Ogilvie moved to accept the minutes of the September 19, 2022 meeting. Attorney Betts seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
Justice McDonald said the Commission was to interview candidates for four positions of Deputy Assistant State’s Attorneys in the Office of the State’s Attorney, Judicial District of Hartford, G.A. No. 14, and four positions of Deputy Assistant State’s Attorneys, Judicial District of New Haven, G.A. No. 23, New Haven, and G.A. No. 7, Meriden. Sharmese L. Walcott, State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Hartford, and John P. Doyle, Jr., State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of New Haven, were present to participate in the interviews of candidates for Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney.
Attorney Murphy moved to enter into executive session to discuss candidates for the positions. Attorney Ogilvie seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. The executive session began at 9:08 a.m.
At 10:41 a.m., the Commission adjourned briefly. After a short recess, the Commission resumed its executive session at 10:49 a.m. At 12:09 p.m., the Commission took a lunch break and resumed the executive session at 12:45 p.m.
The executive session ended at 3:27 p.m. Justice McDonald announced that no motions were made or votes taken during the executive session. Attorney Ogilvie moved to approve Stacey Cox, Jessica Cruz, Beth Kailey and Ashley Thorpe as Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney in the Judicial District of Hartford, G.A. No. 14. Attorney Murphy seconded the motion and it passed unanimously, with Attorney Betts not present for the vote.
Attorney Murphy moved to approve Thomas Finnucan, Jacqueline Fitzgerald and Cynthia Lill as Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney in the Judicial District of New Haven, G.A. No. 23. Attorney Ogilvie seconded the motion and it passed unanimously, with Attorney Betts not present for the vote.
Attorney Murphy moved to approve Danielle Hottin as Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney in the Judicial District of New Haven, G.A. No. 7, Meriden. Attorney Ogilvie seconded the motion and it passed unanimously, with Attorney Betts not present for the vote.
There being no further business, Attorney Murphy moved to adjourn the meeting. Chief State’s Attorney Griffin seconded the motion and it passed unanimously, with Attorney Betts not present for the vote.
The meeting adjourned at 3:30 p.m.
