The Criminal Justice Commission met on July 24, 2018, to conduct interviews for and consider the appointment of the State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Middlesex.
Justice Andrew J. McDonald, Chair of the Commission, called the meeting to order at 9:25 a.m.
In attendance were The Honorable Juliett L. Crawford, Attorney Mary M. Galvin, Attorney Eric J. George, Attorney Moy N. Ogilvie, Attorney Erick A. Russell and Chief State’s Attorney Kevin T. Kane. Also present: Human Resources/Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist Ngina McMillian.
Attorney George made a motion to approve the minutes of the July 13, 2018, meeting. Attorney Galvin seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
At 9:30 a.m., Senior Assistant State’s Attorney James Dinnan presented an opening statement after which he was interviewed.
At 10:30 a.m., Senior Assistant State’s Attorney John P. Doyle, Jr., presented an opening statement after which he was interviewed.
At 11:15 a.m., Senior Assistant State’s Attorney John F. Fahey presented an opening statement after which he was interviewed.
At 12:30 p.m., Executive Assistant State’s Attorney Michael A. Gailor presented an opening statement after which he was interviewed.
At 1:00 p.m., Assistant State’s Attorney Sharmese L. Hodge presented an opening statement after which she was interviewed.
At 2:00 p.m., Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Margaret E. Kelley presented an opening statement after which she was interviewed.
At 2:45 p.m., Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Charles M. Stango presented an opening statement after which he was interviewed.
At 3:45 p.m., Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney David J. Strollo presented an opening statement after which he was interviewed.
At 4:45 p.m., Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Russell C. Zentner presented an opening statement after which he was interviewed.
At 5:46 p.m. Attorney Russell made a motion to enter executive session to consider personnel matters and appointment of the State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Middlesex. Attorney Galvin seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
The Commission resumed its public session at 6:30 p.m. Justice McDonald stated that no votes were taken during the executive session.
Chief State’s Attorney Kane made a motion to appoint Michael A. Gailor as State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Middlesex. Attorney Ogilvie seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
Justice McDonald announced that the next meeting will be held in September. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
