Minutes of Meeting
January 20, 2015
The Criminal Justice Commission met on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney in Rocky Hill for the purpose of conducting interviews for the appointment of Deputy Assistant State’s Attorneys at the Office of the State’s Attorney, Judicial District of Tolland, Juvenile Matters and the Office of the State’s Attorney, Judicial District of Hartford, Geographical Area (G.A.) 12, Manchester; and any other business to come before the Commission.
The following members were present: The Honorable Richard N. Palmer, Chairperson, The Honorable Juliett Crawford, Attorney Mary M. Galvin, Attorney Maura H. Horan, Attorney Moy N. Ogilvie, and Chief State’s Attorney Kevin T. Kane. Also present: State’s Attorney Matthew C. Gedansky, State’s Attorney Gail P. Hardy and Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist Ngina Gibson.
The meeting, which was open to the public, commenced at 9:15 a.m. in the conference room. Attorney Horan made a motion, seconded by Attorney Ogilvie, to approve the minutes of the meeting of October 9, 2014. The motion passed unanimously.
State’s Attorney Gedansky briefed the members about the position in Tolland. The Commission then interviewed the following attorneys: Brett Aiello, Courtney Chaplin, Sarah Fallon Fattahi, Jacob McChesney and Veronica Paige. Attorney Chaplin applied for and was a finalist for both openings; this interview served for both positions. State’s Attorney Hardy joined the meeting for his interview.
After a brief recess at 11:20 a.m., the interviews resumed at 11:25 a.m. At 12:55 p.m., the Commission then interviewed the following attorneys for the Manchester position: Timothy Chretien, Thomas Houlihan, Jonathan Lewin and Derek Oatis.
After a recess at 1:30 p.m., the Commission resumed its public meeting at 2:00 p.m. to conclude the interviews.
Attorney Horan made a motion to go into executive session at 3:25 p.m. to discuss the appointments. The motion was seconded by Attorney Ogilvie and passed unanimously.
Following the executive session, the Commission resumed its public meeting at 3:30 p.m. Attorney Horan moved for the appointment of Attorney Veronica Paige as Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney at the Office of the State’s Attorney, Judicial District of Tolland, Juvenile Matters. Attorney Ogilvie seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
Attorney Horan moved for the appointment of Attorney Courtney Chaplin as Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney at the Office of the State’s Attorney, Judicial District of Hartford, G.A. 12, Manchester. Attorney Galvin seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:35 p.m.
