Minutes of Meeting
July 23, 2013
The Criminal Justice Commission met on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney in Rocky Hill for the purpose of conducting interviews for the appointment of Deputy Assistant State’s Attorneys for the Office of the State’s Attorney, Judicial District of Danbury; Office of the State’s Attorney, Judicial District of New Haven; and any other business to come before the Commission.
The following members were present: Judge Juliett L. Crawford, Attorney Maura H. Horan, Attorney Moy N. Ogilvie, Attorney Ann G. Taylor and Chief State’s Attorney Kevin T. Kane. Also present: State’s Attorney Stephen J. Sedensky, III, Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney John Waddock for State’s Attorney Michael Dearington, and Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist Ngina Gibson.
The meeting, which was open to the public, commenced at 9:10 a.m. in the conference room. Attorney Horan made a motion to approve the minutes of the meeting of June 20, 2013. The motion was seconded by Attorney Ogilvie and passed unanimously.
Beginning at approximately 9:11 a.m., the Commission interviewed the following attorneys for the Danbury position: Michael Barbarula, Jesse Giddings, Jonathan Lewin, Adrienne Maciulewski and Edward Miller. Attorney Maciulewski applied for and was a finalist for both the Danbury and New Haven openings; this interview served for both positions.
A brief recess was taken at 10:45 a.m. At approximately 10:55 a.m., the Commission resumed its public meeting and continued the interviews for the Danbury position. Beginning at approximately 11:45 a.m., the Commission interviewed the following attorneys for the New Haven position: Ashleigh Backman, Susan Campbell, Nadia Prinz and Alanna Tynan.
After a recess was taken at 1:15 p.m., the Commission resumed its public meeting at approximately 1:45 p.m. to conclude the interviews.
At approximately 2:15 p.m., Attorney Horan made a motion to go into executive session. The motion was seconded by Attorney Oglivie and passed unanimously.
The Commission resumed its public meeting at approximately 2:20 p.m. and appointed Attorney Adrienne Maciulewski as Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of New Haven.
At approximately 2:21 p.m, Attorney Horan made a motion to go into executive session. The motion was seconded by Attorney Oglivie and passed unanimously.
The Commission resumed its public meeting at approximately 2:30 p.m. and appointed Attorney Edward Miller as Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Danbury.
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 2:31 p.m.
