Minutes of Meeting
Tuesday, August 13, 2013
The Criminal Justice Commission met on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney in Rocky Hill for the purpose of conducting interviews for the appointment of Deputy Assistant State’s Attorneys for the Office of the State’s Attorney, Judicial District of Fairfield; Office of the State’s Attorney, Judicial District of Hartford, Geographical Area 12; and any other business to come before the Commission.
The following members were present: Justice Richard N. Palmer, Chairperson, Attorney Mary M. Galvin, Attorney Moy N. Ogilvie, Attorney Ann G. Taylor and Chief State’s Attorney Kevin T. Kane. Also present: State’s Attorney Gail P. Hardy, State’s Attorney John C. Smriga and Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist Ngina Gibson.
The meeting, which was open to the public, commenced at 9:15 a.m. in the conference room. Attorney Taylor made a motion to approve the minutes of the meeting of July 23, 2013. The motion was seconded by Attorney Ogilvie and passed unanimously.
Beginning at approximately 9:20 a.m., the Commission interviewed the following attorneys for the Fairfield position: Katherine Donoghue, Yamini Menon, Lawrence Scharpf, Emily Dewey Trudeau and Nancy Walker. Attorney Trudeau applied for and was a finalist for both the Fairfield and Hartford openings; this interview served for both positions.
A brief recess was taken at 10:45 a.m. At approximately 11:00 a.m., the Commission resumed its public meeting and continued the interviews for the Fairfield position. At approximately 12:10 p.m., Attorney Taylor made a motion to go into executive session for a preliminary assessment. The motion was seconded by Attorney Ogilvie and passed unanimously.
Following the executive session, the Commission resumed its public meeting at approximately 12:16 p.m. and interviewed the following attorneys for the Hartford position: Jesse Giddings, LeeAnn Silva-Neal, Jaclyn Preville and Gwaina Wauldon.
A brief recess was taken at 12:45 p.m. and the Commission resumed its public meeting at 12:50 p.m. At approximately 1:45 p.m., Attorney Taylor made a motion to go into executive session. Attorney Galvin seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
The Commission came out of executive session at approximately 2:30 p.m. and appointed Attorney Emily Dewey Trudeau as Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Fairfield and Attorney Jaclyn Preville as Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Hartford, Geographical Area 12.
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 2:35 p.m.
