Minutes of Meeting
September 6, 2012
The Criminal Justice Commission met on Thursday, September 6, 2012, at the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney in Rocky Hill for the purpose of conducting interviews for the appointment of Deputy Assistant State’s Attorneys for the Office of the State’s Attorney, Judicial District of New Britain, Geographical Area No. 15; Office of the State’s Attorney, Judicial District of New Haven, Geographical Area No. 23; Office of the State’s Attorney, Judicial District of New London, Geographical Area No. 10; and any other business to come before the Commission.
The following members were present: Justice Richard N. Palmer, Chairperson, Judge Juliett L. Crawford, Attorney Mary M. Galvin, Attorney Ann G. Taylor and Chief State’s Attorney Kevin T. Kane. Attorney Moy Ogilvie joined the meeting at approximately 1:30 p.m. Also present: State’s Attorney Michael Dearington, State’s Attorney Michael L. Regan, Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Mary Rose Palmese for State’s Attorney Brian W. Preleski and Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist Ngina Gibson.
The meeting, which was open to the public, commenced at 9:30 a.m. in the conference room. Attorney Galvin made a motion to approve the minutes of the meeting of June 18, 2012. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
Beginning at approximately 9:32 a.m., the Commission interviewed the following attorneys for the New Britain position: Steven Lesko, Adrienne Maciulewski, Dennis Mancini, Evelyn Rojas and LeeAnn Silva. Attorney Lesko applied for and was a finalist for both the New Britain and New London openings; this interview served for both positions. Attorney Maciulewski applied for and was a finalist for both the New Britain and New Haven openings; this interview served for both positions.
A brief recess was taken at 11:35 a.m. At approximately 11:50 a.m., Attorney Taylor made a motion to go into executive session for a preliminary assessment. The motion was seconded by Attorney Galvin and passed unanimously.
Following the executive session, the Commission resumed its public meeting at approximately 12:00 p.m. and interviewed the following attorneys for the New Haven position: James Donohue, Jennifer Lindade, Edward Miller and Danielle O’Connell.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., Attorney Taylor made a motion to go into executive session. The motion was seconded by Attorney Galvin and passed unanimously.
After a recess was taken at 1:35 p.m., the Commission resumed its public meeting at approximately 2:30 p.m. and interviewed the following attorneys for the New London position: Matthew Berger, Sarah Bowman, Kelly Martin and Jaclyn Preville.
Attorney Ogilvie made a motion to go into executive session at approximately 4:30 p.m. Attorney Galvin seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
The Commission came out of executive session at approximately 5:00 p.m. and appointed Attorney Evelyn Rojas as Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney for the Office of the State’s Attorney, Judicial District of New Britain, G.A. No. 15; Attorney Jennifer Lindade as Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney for the Office of the State’s Attorney, Judicial District of New Haven, G.A. No. 23; and Attorney Sarah Bowman as Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney, Judicial District of New London, G.A. No. 10.
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 5:05 p.m.
