Minutes of Meeting

The Criminal Justice Commission met on Monday, June 18, 2012, at the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney in Rocky Hill for the purpose of conducting interviews for the appointment of Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney, Appellate Bureau, at the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney; considering the reappointments of the State’s Attorneys for the Judicial Districts of Hartford and Waterbury; and any other business to come before the Commission.
The following members were present: Justice Richard N. Palmer, Chairperson, Judge Juliett L. Crawford, Attorney Mary M. Galvin, Attorney Maura H. Horan, Attorney Moy N. Ogilvie and Chief State’s Attorney Kevin T. Kane. Also present: Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Susan C. Marks and Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist Ngina Gibson.
The meeting, which was open to the public, commenced at 9:20 a.m. in the conference room. Attorney Galvin made a motion, seconded by Attorney Horan, to approve the minutes of the meeting of May 3, 2012. The motion passed unanimously.
Beginning at approximately 9:30 a.m., the Commission interviewed the following attorneys: Corey Fitzgerald, Emily Graner Sexton, Emily Dewey Trudeau, Nancy Walker and Matthew Weiner.
At approximately 12:25 p.m., Attorney Galvin made a motion to go into executive session to discuss the appointment. The motion was seconded by Attorney Horan and passed unanimously.
Following the executive session, the Commission resumed its public meeting at approximately 1:15 p.m. Attorney Horan moved for the appointment of Attorney Matthew A. Weiner as Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney, Appellate Bureau, at the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney. Attorney Galvin seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
After a brief recess, the Commission resumed its meeting and then interviewed the two State’s Attorneys considered for reappointment:
At approximately 1:30 p.m., Gail P. Hardy, State’s Attorney of the Judicial District of Hartford, was interviewed. At approximately 2:15 p.m., Attorney Horan made a motion to go into executive session. Attorney Ogilvie seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. At approximately 2:30 p.m., Attorney Galvin moved for the reappointment of State’s Attorney Hardy. Attorney Horan seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
At approximately 2:35 p.m., Maureen Platt, State’s Attorney of the Judicial District of Waterbury, was interviewed. At approximately 3:00 p.m., Attorney Galvin made a motion to go into executive session. Attorney Horan seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. At approximately 3:05 p.m., Attorney Galvin moved for the reappointment of State’s Attorney Platt. Attorney Ogilvie seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 3:10 p.m.
