Minutes of Meeting
June 6-7, 2011
The Criminal Justice Commission met on Monday, June 6, and Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney in Rocky Hill, for the purpose of conducting interviews for the appointment of the State’s Attorney of the Judicial District of Waterbury, and any other business that may come before the Commission.
The following members were present: Justice Richard N. Palmer, Chairperson, Judge Juliett L. Crawford, Attorney Mary M. Galvin, Attorney Maura H. Horan, Attorney Moy N. Ogilvie, Attorney Ann G. Taylor, and Chief State’s Attorney Kevin T. Kane.
The meeting, which was open to the public, commenced at 9:09 a.m. in the conference room. A motion was made by Attorney Taylor to approve the minutes of the May 23, 2011, meeting. The motion was seconded by Attorney Horan and approved unanimously.
At approximately 9:21 a.m., the Commission relocated to the first floor training center. Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist Patricia Alston, Communications Officer Mark Dupuis and members of the public were present.
The Commission interviewed the following attorneys: Catherine Brannelly Austin, Richard Colangelo, Kevin Doyle, John Fahey, Patrick Griffin and Joseph Harry. The Commission recessed at approximately 2:02 p.m. and resumed its public meeting at 3:02 p.m. to interview: Margaret Kelley, Eva Lenczewski and Anne Mahoney.
At approximately 5:10 p.m., the Commission recessed for the evening.
On Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at 9:15 a.m., the Commission reconvened and resumed its public meeting. Discussion ensued regarding the development of an ethics code for prosecutors.
At approximately 9:21 a.m., the Commission interviewed the following attorneys: Peter McShane, Kevin Murphy, Cynthia Serafini, Charles Stango, David Strollo and Maureen Platt Temchin.
The Commission recessed at 2:50 p.m. and resumed its public meeting at 3:13 p.m. Attorney Taylor made a motion to go into executive session to discuss the appointment. The motion was seconded by Attorney Ogilvie and passed unanimously.
Following the executive session, the Commission resumed its public meeting at approximately 5:30 p.m. Attorney Horan moved for the appointment of Attorney Maureen Platt Temchin as State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Waterbury; Attorney Galvin seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
At approximately 5:32 p.m., the meeting was adjourned.
