Meeting Minutes
November 10, 2008

The Criminal Justice Commission met via conference call on Monday, November 10, 2008, at the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney in Rocky Hill for the purpose of selecting a candidate for the appointment of a Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Stamford/Norwalk at Geographical Area No. 20 and any other business that may come before the Commission

The following members were present: Justice Richard N. Palmer, Chairman, Judge Thomas Bishop, Attorney Maura Horan, Attorney Garrett Moore, Attorney Alfred Turco and Chief State’s Attorney Kevin T. Kane.

The meeting, open to the public by means of a speaker phone at the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney, commenced at approximately 9:30 a.m. No members of the public attended. A motion was made by Attorney Horan to accept the minutes of the Tuesday, October 28, 2008 meeting. The motion was seconded by Chief State’s Attorney Kane and was approved unanimously.

Justice Palmer reported that Joane Merlain declined the offer of the position of Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Stamford/Norwalk at G.A. No. 20. The Commission then discussed what to do in light of Attorney Merlain’s decision not to accept the offer. All present agreed to consider the two remaining applicants.

At approximately 9:48 a.m. Attorney Moore moved that the Commission go into executive session to discuss the appointments of the Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney Stamford/Norwalk Judicial District at G.A. No. 20. The motion was seconded by Judge Bishop and passed unanimously.

Following the executive session the Commission resumed its public meeting at approximately 9:55 a.m.

Attorney Horan moved that Attorney Nichol Peco be appointed Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney for the Stamford/Norwalk Judicial District at G.A. No. 20. The motion was seconded by Judge Bishop and passed unanimously.

At approximately 10:00 a.m. the meeting was adjourned.
