Minutes of the Meeting
October 1, 2008

The Criminal Justice Commission met on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney in Rocky Hill for the purpose of interviewing four candidates for the appointment of a Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney for the Public Integrity Bureau at the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney and any other business that may come before the Commission.

The following members were present: Justice Richard N. Palmer, Chairman, Judge Thomas Bishop, Attorney Maura Horan, Attorney Garrett Moore, Attorney Ann Taylor, and Chief State’s Attorney Kevin T. Kane. Also present were Patricia Alston the Commission’s Affirmative Action Officer and Deputy Chief State’s Attorney Paul E. Murray.

The meeting, open to the public, commenced at approximately 9:20 a.m. A motion was made by Judge Bishop to accept the minutes of the Thursday, July 17, 2008 meeting. The motion was seconded by Chief State’s Attorney Kane and was approved unanimously.

The Commission then took up the vacancy of the Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney for the Public Integrity Bureau and interviewed, in turn, Attorney Christine Collyer, and Attorney Justina Kingen-Moore, Attorney Michael Pendell, and Attorney Juliana (Joslin) Waltersdorff. Attorney Laurie Sullivan was scheduled to be interviewed but withdrew her name from consideration.

At approximately 10:45 a.m. the Commission recessed.

At approximately 10:50 a.m. the Commission resumed its public meeting and continued the interviewing process.

At approximately 12:10 p.m. Judge Bishop moved that the Commission go into executive session to discuss the appointment of the Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney for the Public Integrity Bureau. The motion was seconded by Attorney Moore and passed unanimously.

Following the executive session the Commission resumed its public meeting at approximately 12:20 p.m. At that time Attorney Ann Taylor left the meeting. Attorney Horan moved that Attorney Michael Pendall be appointed Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney for the Public Integrity Bureau. The motion was seconded by Attorney Moore and passed unanimously.

At approximately 12:25 p.m. the meeting was adjourned.
