• Safety Advocates, Attorney General, DMV, DOT Urge Parents to Discuss Safety Habits with Teens Behind the Wheel

  Parents continue to be the chief influence on young drivers' attitudes toward safety behind the wheel, said leading Connecticut safety advocates as the state marks National Teen Safe Driver Week, which runs through Saturday (Oct. 19-25). They are urging parents to talk to their teens this week about key ways to keep safe.

• Proposed Legislation Would Create New Consumer Protections in Electric Supplier Market

  A package of legislative proposals detailed by Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Attorney General George Jepsen, Consumer Counsel Elin Swanson Katz and Senate President Pro Tempore Donald E. Williams, Jr. (D-Brooklyn) today would seek to address the growing number of consumer complaints about spiking prices, deceptive practices and lack of disclosure about rates and contract terms in Connecticut’s electric supplier market.

  Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner William M. Rubenstein today announced that Connecticut has joined a $750,000 multistate settlement with digital advertising company PointRoll, Inc. that resolves an investigation into whether the company violated consumers' privacy by unlawfully circumventing the privacy settings in Apple Inc.'s Safari Web browser.

• New DMV Analysis Shows State's Teen Driving Laws are Working

  As January marks the 10th anniversary for Connecticut imposing restrictions and stronger safety standards on teen drivers, a recent DMV analysis shows these standards have brought large decreases in crashes, injuries and deaths in the last decade.

• State Joins National Settlement with T-Mobile Over Data Cramming Allegations

  Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) Commissioner William M. Rubenstein announced today that Connecticut, along with 49 other states and the District of Columbia, has reached a settlement with mobile telephone company T-Mobile USA to resolve allegations that the company improperly engaged in "data cramming."
