AG Jepsen, Investigating AGs Ask Equifax to Disable Fee-based Monitoring Services, Reimburse Fees for Security Freezes
Attorney General George Jepsen today joined with attorneys general around the country in a letter to credit reporting firm Equifax requesting that it disable links for enrollment in fee-based credit monitoring service in the wake of the massive data breach impacting 143 million people.

Conn. Reaches State-Federal Settlement with Hartford Dispensary to Resolve False Claims Act Allegations
The Hartford Dispensary will pay $627,000 through a federal-state settlement to resolve allegations that it violated the False Claims Act by falsely certifying to federal and state officials that it had a current medical director that was performing his duties in accordance with federal and state law, Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Social Services (DSS) Commissioner Roderick L. Bremby said today.

Conn. Joins Multistate Lawsuit Challenging President Trump on DACA
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Attorney General George Jepsen today announced that Connecticut has joined with a coalition of 14 other states and the District of Columbia in suing President Donald Trump and his administration seeking to invalidate his memorandum that ends the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and to enjoin federal agencies from using information gathered through DACA in immigration enforcement efforts.

Connecticut Leads $3.5M Multistate Settlement with Lenovo over Installation of Hacker-vulnerable Software on Laptop Computers
Connecticut has joined with 31 other states in a settlement with technology company Lenovo (United States) Inc. to resolve allegations that the company violated state consumer protection laws by pre-installing faulty software on laptop computers sold to Connecticut consumers that made consumers' personal information vulnerable to hackers, Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) Commissioner Michelle H. Seagull said today.

AG Jepsen, Consumer Counsel Katz: PURA Approves $5M Settlement with Electric Supplier Palmco
Under a settlement agreement approved by the state Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) yesterday, electric supply company Palmco Power CT, LLC will pay $5 million to the state of Connecticut and relinquish its electric supplier license for a period of five years, Attorney General George Jepsen and Consumer Counsel Elin Swanson Katz said.

Conn. Leads $5.5M Multistate Settlement with Nationwide Insurance Company over 2012 Data Breach
Connecticut has joined with 31 other states and the District of Columbia in a $5.5 million settlement with Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company and its subsidiary, Allied Property & Casualty Insurance Company, that resolves the states' investigation into a 2012 data breach that exposed sensitive personal information of 1.2 million consumers across the country, Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Michelle H. Seagull announced today.

Attorney General George Jepsen today announced that Connecticut has joined 18 other attorneys general in a federal lawsuit against Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos and the United States Department of Education that seeks to stop the department's abandonment of new rules to hold abusive colleges and universities accountable for misconduct and to relieve their students from federal loan indebtedness incurred as a result of misconduct.

AG Jepsen and Broad Coalition Vow Lawsuit if EPA Continues Ignoring Legal Duty to Control Methane Pollution
Attorney General George Jepsen has joined a coalition of 15 other attorneys general, the California Air Resources Board, and the Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago in notifying the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of their intention to sue the Agency. In a letter to EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt, the coalition provides the required notice of their intention to sue for failing to fulfill its mandatory obligation under the Clean Air Act to control methane emissions from existing oil and natural gas sources and for "unreasonably delaying" the issuance of such controls.
