AG, DCP: State Joins $33M Multistate Settlement with Johnson & Johnson on Representations of OTC Drug Quality
Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Michelle H. Seagull today announced that Connecticut has joined with 41 other states and the District of Columbia in a $33 million settlement with Johnson & Johnson and Johnson & Johnson Consumer, Inc. to resolve allegations that the companies engaged in unfair or deceptive trade practices in the marketing of certain over-the-counter medications.

AG Jepsen: States Reach Settlements, Cooperation Agreements with Two Former Executives in Generic Drug Multistate Investigation
Two former executives of a New Jersey-based generic pharmaceutical manufacturer have entered into settlement and cooperation agreements with 41 states and territories that are investigating what they allege is widespread anticompetitive activity in the generic drug industry that has led to higher prices for consumers and state governments, Attorney General George Jepsen announced today.

AG Jepsen: Conn. Leads $18.5M Settlement with Target Corporation over 2013 Data Breach
Attorney General George Jepsen today announced that Connecticut has joined with 46 other states and the District of Columbia in an $18.5 million settlement with the Target Corporation to resolve the states' investigation into the retail company's 2013 data breach. The settlement represents the largest multistate data breach settlement achieved to date.

Attorney General George Jepsen announced today that Connecticut has joined with fourteen other states and the District of Columbia in legal action to protect healthcare access for millions of Americans by seeking to intervene in a pending lawsuit that seeks to undercut the affordability of health insurance plans under the federal Affordable Care Act (ACA).

Connecticut Files Lawsuit against EPA to Require Action on Petition to Reduce Emissions from Pennsylvania Coal Plant
Connecticut has filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court, District of Connecticut against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for failure to take timely action on a petition from Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) asking the EPA to take action to stop pollution from a Pennsylvania coal-fired power plant from blowing our way.

AG Jepsen: Former Corinthian College Students Eligible for Federal Student Loan Cancellation
Attorney General George Jepsen announced today that Connecticut has joined at least 42 other states and the District of Columbia in notifying residents who attended schools operated by Corinthian Colleges, Inc. that they may be eligible for cancellation of their federal student loans used to attend those schools. If a student’s federal loan is cancelled, the student will make no more payments on the loan, and any payments already made will be refunded.

Attorney General George Jepsen is urging Connecticut residents who may be eligible to participate in and receive funds from a $125 million multistate settlement that resolved anticompetitive conduct involving the drug Provigil to file a claim before time runs out.

Connecticut Joins Multistate Settlement Resolving Environmental Claims against Volkswagen for Emissions Fraud
Connecticut will receive $14,846,465 through a multistate settlement with auto-maker Volkswagen that resolves state claims that the company violated environmental laws when it equipped certain diesel vehicles with illegal and undisclosed emissions defeat devices designed to circumvent emissions standards, Attorney General George Jepsen said today.

Attorney General George Jepsen today provided testimony to the legislature's Judiciary Committee in support of Senate Bill 1021, An Act Revising the Uniform Fraudulent Transfer Act, legislation that aims to prevent bankruptcy courts from ordering colleges and universities to pay back money parents or guardians had paid to send their children to college.
