INTERSTATE DE NOVO BRANCH
On August 2, 2006, pursuant to Section 36a-412(a)(2) of the Connecticut General Statutes and Section 36a-145(b)(1) of the 2006 Supplement to the General Statutes, HSBC National Bank USA, a national bank in organization with its main office to be located in Bethesda, Maryland, filed an application to establish a de novo branch at 7 Landmark Square, Stamford, Connecticut.  In connection with the application, a community reinvestment plan was filed, and is available for public inspection and comment at the Department of Banking for a period of 30 days.
ACQUISITION
On August 1, 2006, pursuant to Section 36a-185 of the Connecticut General Statutes, the Commissioner issued a notice of intent not to disapprove the acquisition by Plainfield Greenwich Holdings LLC of more than 10% but less than 25% of the issued and outstanding voting securities of The Bank of Greenwich.
EFFECTIVE REGULATIONS
Attached to this issue of the Bulletin is a copy of amended regulations concerning public deposits.  The amended regulations were effective July 31, 2006, and are available on the Department’s website.
CONSUMER CREDIT DIVISION ACTIVITY
Orders Revoking First Mortgage Broker Licenses
On July 31, 2006, the Commissioner issued an Order Revoking First Mortgage Broker License (“Order”) In the Matter of:  Sherman Financial Services Inc., d/b/a S.F. Mortgage (“Respondent”) of Pocasset, Massachusetts.  The action was based on the fact that Respondent failed to maintain a surety bond in violation of Section 36a 492(a) of the Connecticut General Statutes.  Respondent was given an opportunity to request a hearing and failed to request a hearing in this matter.  A copy of the Order can be obtained from the department's website or by contacting the department's Legal Division.
