Christopher Plaskon Arraigned in Death of Maren Sanchez

Kevin D. Lawlor, State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Ansonia-Milford announced today that Christopher Michael Plaskon, age 16, of Milford was arraigned today at an off-site medical facility on a charge of Murder in the death of Maren Sanchez. The defendant is currently in custody at the medical facility pending his transfer to the Connecticut Department of Correction.

Judge Frank Iannotti made a finding of probable cause in the case and bond was set in the matter at $3,000,000. State’s Attorney Lawlor has decided that the matter will be prosecuted in adult court and not in the Juvenile Court. State’s Attorney Lawlor further requested the matter be directly transferred to the Part A Court in Milford where more serious felonies are heard.

The case was continued until Friday, May 2, 2014. At that time the defendant will be presented formally in Superior Court.

“I want to thank all the members of the various agencies who have cooperated in this matter and conducted these preliminary hearings under difficult circumstances. This Office will continue to seek justice in this case, as we do in all cases, and we will move forward with the prosecution,” State’s Attorney Lawlor said.

The charges against the defendant are merely allegations and he is presumed innocent until proven otherwise in a court of law. The State’s Attorney’s Office will not have any further comment on this matter until after Mr. Plaskon’s presentment in Milford Superior Court on May 2, 2014.
