(New Britain, CT) – Christian M. Watson, New Britain Judicial District State’s Attorney, announced today that the Honorable Chris Pelosi on March 6, 2024 sentenced Kevin Bard, age 57, of Bristol, to a total effective sentence of 70 years in prison for various charges stemming from the 2020 Murder of Catherine Streeto-Michaud in Bristol.
A Superior Court jury in New Britain on December 18, 2023 found Bard guilty of Murder in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-54a, three counts of Criminal Violation of a Protective Order in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-223, and Criminal Violation of a Standing Protective Order in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-223a.
Evidence at trial showed Bard confessed to family members and friends that he had killed his girlfriend, Ms. Streeto-Michaud, age 58, in her Bristol home on December 13, 2020.
State’s Attorney Watson extends his sincerest condolences to Ms. Streeto-Michaud’s family and friends for the loss of their beloved, whom they described as a kind and vibrant woman. This was a senseless and horrific crime and we are grateful for the ability to seek justice on behalf of Ms. Streeto-Michaud and her family, as well as the people of the State of Connecticut, who have too often witnessed the deadly consequences of domestic violence.
State’s Attorney Watson wishes to extend his gratitude to the Western District Major Crime Squad, the Bristol Police Department, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection’s Division of Scientific Services who tirelessly pursued this case.
The case was prosecuted by State’s Attorney Watson and Assistant State’s Attorney Abby Marchinkoski, with assistance from Inspector Edward Apicella.
