Robert Parris Convicted of 2019 Murder of Michael Rosario
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(New Haven, CT) - New Haven State’s Attorney John P. Doyle, Jr. announced today that a jury in New Haven Superior Court on January 25, 2023 found Robert Parris, age 56, of New Haven, guilty of the crime of Murder in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-54a, Criminal Possession of a Firearm in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-217 and Carrying a Pistol without a Permit in violation of Connecticut General Statutes §29-35. The Honorable Jon M. Alander presided over the jury trial. Parris also was convicted of Criminal Possession of a Pistol or Revolver in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-217c in a separate proceeding before the court.
According to evidence introduced at trial, Parris shot the victim, Michael Rosario, age 55, in New Haven on December 19, 2019. Rosario succumbed to his injuries the following day.
The case was investigated by the New Haven Police Department and was prosecuted by New Haven State’s Attorney John P. Doyle, Jr. and Assistant State’s Attorney Melissa R. Holmes, who were assisted by Inspector Kevin P. Grenier.
“Our thoughts are with the Rosario family at this time as Michael Rosario’s life should not have ended in such a tragedy," State’s Attorney Doyle said. "While his loss is undoubtedly felt deeply by his family, we hope this verdict eases some of their pain.”
Sentencing is scheduled for April 5, 2023 in New Haven Superior Court.
