Minutes of the Meeting of January 14, 2019

Meeting called to order at approximately 12:33 p.m. by State’s Attorney and President of the Advisory Board Gail Hardy.

In attendance were: Chief State’s Attorney Kevin Kane, Deputy Chief State’s Attorneys Kevin D. Lawlor and John J. Russotto; State’s Attorneys Richard J. Colangelo, Jr. (Stamford/Norwalk), Michael A. Gailor (Middlesex); Matthew C. Gedansky (Tolland); Patrick J. Griffin (New Haven), Margaret E. Kelley (Ansonia/Milford), Anne F. Mahoney (Windham), Maureen T. Platt (Waterbury), Brian W. Preleski (New Britain), Michael L. Regan (New London),  Stephen J. Sedensky III (Danbury), David Shepack (Litchfield) and John C. Smriga (Fairfield).

 

Also present: Executive Assistant State’s Attorney Brian Austin, Jr., legislative liaison Wilfred Blanchette, Jr., and Communications and Legislative Specialist Mark A. Dupuis.

 

State’s Attorney Colangelo made a motion to accept the minutes of the December 17, 2018, meeting. State’s Attorney Sedensky seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

 

State’s Attorney Smriga discussed the transfer and hiring process for prosecutors.  State’s Attorney Colangelo made a motion that application materials be sent to both the local State’s Attorney and the Chief State’s Attorney’s office as per past practice which was seconded by State’s Attorney Sedensky and it passed unanimously.  Deputy Chief State’s Attorney Russotto indicated he would address the issue.

 

State’s Attorney Mahoney made a motion to elect new officers for 2019 which was seconded by State’s Attorney Sedensky. The following individuals were elected officers of the State’s Attorney Advisory Board;

President Maureen T. Platt, Waterbury State’s Attorney;

Vice President Brian Preleski, New Britain State’s Attorney;

Secretary Richard J. Colangelo, Jr., Stamford/Norwalk State’s Attorney.

At 12:46 p.m. State’s Attorney Colangelo made a motion to adjourn which was seconded by State’s Attorney Mahoney and it passed unanimously.
