Minutes of the Meeting of November 18, 2021

Chief State’s Attorney Richard J. Colangelo, Jr., called the meeting to order at 1:05 p.m. In accordance with Executive Orders issued because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting was conducted by electronic conference (ZOOM software).

In addition to Chief State’s Attorney Colangelo, participating in the meeting were: The Honorable Melanie L. Cradle, attorneys Robert Berke, Scott Murphy and Moy Ogilvie. The Honorable Andrew J. McDonald, Chair, joined the meeting later.

Judge Cradle moved to accept the minutes of the September 27, 2021 meeting. Attorney Ogilvie seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

Attorney Ogilvie moved to enter into executive session to interview candidates for Deputy Assistant State’s Attorneys in the Judicial District of Stamford/Norwalk, G.A. No. 1; discussion of previously interviewed candidates for one position of Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney in the Judicial District of New Britain and one position of Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney in the Judicial District of Hartford. Judge Cradle seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. The executive session began at 1:07 p.m. Also present were Stamford/Norwalk State’s Attorney Paul J. Ferencek and Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist Janice duFrend.

The executive session ended at 3:20 p.m. Justice McDonald announced that no motions were made or votes taken during the executive session. Attorney Murphy moved to appoint Michael Bivona and Sydelle Exantus as Deputy Assistant State’s Attorneys in the Judicial District of Stamford/Norwalk, G.A. No. 1. Attorney Berke seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

Chief State’s Attorney Colangelo moved to appoint Danielle Koch as Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney in the Judicial District of New Britain. Judge Cradle seconded the motion and it passed 5-0, with Attorney Murphy abstaining.

Chief State’s Attorney Colangelo moved to appoint Meredith Clark as Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney in the Judicial District of Hartford. Judge Cradle seconded the motion and it passed 5-0, with Attorney Murphy abstaining.

The Commission discussed proposed 2022 regular meeting dates for the Criminal Justice Commission and agreed to schedule the meetings on Mondays. Attorney Murphy then moved to approve the 2022 regular meeting dates and Attorney Ogilvie seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

There being no further business, Attorney Murphy moved to adjourn the meeting. Chief State’s Attorney Colangelo seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 3:28 p.m.
