Minutes of the Meeting of November 12, 2020

The Honorable Andrew J. McDonald, Chair, called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m. In accordance with Executive Orders issued because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting was conducted by electronic conference (ZOOM software).

In addition to Justice McDonald, participating in the meeting were: The Honorable Melanie L. Cradle, attorneys Robert Berke, Reginald Dwayne Betts, Scott Murphy and Moy Ogilvie, Chief State’s Attorney Richard J. Colangelo, Jr. and Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist Janice duFrend.

Attorney Berke moved to accept the minutes of the September 24, 2020, meeting. Attorney Ogilvie seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

The Commission discussed and scheduled the 2021 monthly meeting dates.

Attorney Murphy moved to enter executive session to interview candidates for a Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney position at the Judicial District of Stamford/Norwalk. Judge Cradle seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. The executive session began at 9:20 a.m. Also present was Stamford/Norwalk State’s Attorney Paul Ferencek.

The executive session ended at 12:59 p.m. Judge Cradle moved to appoint Thai Chhay as a Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Stamford/Norwalk. Attorney Murphy seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

Attorney Berke moved to enter executive session to interview candidates for Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney positions at the Judicial District of Tolland. Attorney Murphy seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. The executive session began at 1:00 p.m. Also present was Tolland State’s Attorney Matthew C. Gedansky.

The executive session ended at 4:04 p.m. Attorney Ogilvie moved to appoint Casey Flynn and Kyle LaBuff as Deputy Assistant State’s Attorneys for the Judicial District of Tolland. Judge Cradle seconded the motion and it passed 6-0, with Attorney Betts not present for the vote.

Attorney Murphy moved to adjourn the meeting. Judge Cradle seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 4:08 p.m.
