Minutes of the Meeting of Tuesday, June 30, 2015

The meeting was called to order at approximately 9:30 a.m. by The Honorable Richard N. Palmer, Chair.

In attendance were: The Honorable Juliett L. Crawford, Attorney Mary M. Galvin, Attorney Maura H. Horan, Attorney Moy N. Ogilvie, Attorney Ann G. Taylor, and Chief State’s Attorney Kevin T. Kane.

Also present: Attorney AnneMarie Paone-Mullin, Director of Human Resources, Mark A. Dupuis, Communications and Legislative Specialist, Ngina Gibson, Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist, and Marisa DePhillips, Executive Secretary.

Attorney Galvin made a motion, seconded by Attorney Taylor, to approve the minutes of the meeting of January 20, 2015. The motion passed unanimously.

Justice Palmer distributed copies of citizen correspondence, which matter Chief State’s Attorney Kane will report on at the next Commission meeting.

The Commission then turned to the business of interviewing the candidates for the position of State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Stamford/Norwalk. Supervisory Assistant State's Attorney James M. Bernardi was the first candidate interviewed. Following a brief recess from approximately 10:55 to 11:03 a.m., the Commission interviewed Senior Assistant State's Attorney Richard J. Colangelo, Jr. Following an additional brief recess from approximately 12:03 to 12:18 p.m., the Commission interviewed Senior Assistant State's Attorneys Paul J. Ferencek and Maureen V. Ornousky.

The Commission recessed at 2:10 p.m. and resumed its public meeting at 2:45 p.m. It thereafter interviewed Senior Assistant State's Attorney Joseph C. Valdes and Supervisory Assistant State's Attorney Suzanne M. Vieux.

At 4:25 p.m., Attorney Horan made a motion, seconded by Attorney Ogilvie, to go into executive session to discuss the appointment.

At 4:50 p.m., the Commission resumed its public meeting. Attorney Taylor made a motion, seconded by Attorney Horan, for appointment of Richard J. Colangelo, Jr., to the position of State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Stamford/Norwalk. The motion passed unanimously.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:55 p.m.
