Minutes of Meeting

The Criminal Justice Commission met on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney in Rocky Hill for the purpose of conducting interviews for the appointment of Deputy Assistant State’s Attorneys for the Office of the State’s Attorney, Judicial District of New Britain, Geographical Area (G.A.) 15 and Juvenile Matters; Office of the State’s Attorney, Judicial Districts of Hartford, Middlesex and New Britain, Housing Matters; and any other business to come before the Commission.

The following members were present: Attorney Ann G. Taylor, Acting Chairperson, The Hon. Juliett Crawford, Attorney Mary M. Galvin, Attorney Maura H. Horan, Attorney Moy N. Ogilvie and Chief State’s Attorney Kevin T. Kane. Also present: State’s Attorney Brian W. Preleski, State’s Attorney Peter A. McShane and Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist Ngina Gibson.

The meeting, which was open to the public, commenced at 9:10 a.m. in the conference room. Attorney Ogilvie made a motion to approve the minutes of the meeting of August 13, 2013. The motion was seconded by Judge Crawford and passed unanimously.

Beginning at approximately 9:15 a.m., the Commission interviewed the following attorneys for the New Britain position: Jennifer Cooper, Sara Greene, Benjamin Hollander, Dennis Mancini and LeeAnn Silva-Neal.

A brief recess was taken at 10:45 a.m. At approximately 10:58 a.m., the Commission resumed its public meeting and continued the interviews for the New Britain position. At approximately 12:00 p.m., Attorney Horan made a motion to go into executive session. The motion was seconded by Attorney Ogilvie and passed unanimously.

Following the executive session, the Commission resumed its public meeting at approximately 12:15 p.m. and appointed Attorney LeeAnn Silva-Neal as Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of New Britain, G.A. 15 and Juvenile Matters.

At approximately 12:30 p.m. the Commission interviewed the following attorneys for the Housing Matters position: Steven Bidwell, David Cordone, Steven Lesko, Jonathan Lewin and Danielle O’Connell.

A brief recess was taken at 1:50 p.m. and the Commission resumed its public meeting at 2:20 p.m. and continued the interviews for the Housing Matters position. At approximately 3:10 p.m., Attorney Horan made a motion to go into executive session. Attorney Ogilvie seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

The Commission came out of executive session at approximately 3:35 p.m. and appointed Attorney Steven Lesko as Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney for the Judicial Districts of Hartford, Middlesex and New Britain, Housing Matters.

The meeting was adjourned at approximately 3:35 p.m.
